Wednesday 31 August 2022

We shared our speeches this week to our class and what fantastic speeches they were.  Having to choose two to represent our class was so difficult.

Congratulations to Teresa and max who were the two chosen to represent Room 3 with their speeches.  They will be sharing them with the rest of the senior school tomorrow in front of the judging panel.  We wish them good luck.

Today we had a practice run for what we need to do incase we need to go into a lockdown.  The children heard the Pink Panther music and they knew exactly what to do without me having to give them any instructions.  This was great, as it shows that they are understanding our discussions and pre-planning.

Fitness

Part of our fitness this term has been doing skipping.  The children have enjoyed this and they have made great progress.

We made the most of the beautiful weather today and went out and lay under the trees while listening to the birds chirping and leaves rustling for meditation today.

Isn't it wonderful to see the sun shining today.  I am sure everyone has had enough of the rain.

Our topic for the speeches this year is:

Rotorua - My Backyard

Christmas Shoeboxes

This is something I have always been passionate about and have done at other schools.  I looking forward to doing the Christmas Shoeboxes with my class this year.  On Friday, we discussed why we do the shoeboxes and how the children who receive them must feel.

If you would like to donate an item to go into the shoeboxes, we will have a box to put the items into in class.  Remember the box is only small and the items need to fit inside.  There is to be no food items (including sweets), liquid and items relating to war.  We will collect items over the next 2-3 weeks.

Wednesday 17 August 2022

Reminders:

  • Year 6 children - please make sure you are at school by 8.30am tomorrow (Thursday).

  • Our class is presenting Assembly on Friday.  The start time is 2pm.

We have been working hard on our Calendar Art.  The children have done an amazing job using wax crayons, water colour paints and vivids.

We have entered into a paint pour competition, hoping to win a class set of pouring paints so we can all have a go.  To win we need votes.  Can you please vote for us.  The painting we have entered is above.  They have put the collage of the painting.  It is the same painting, taken at different angles.  If you could please vote for us, it would be greatly appreciated.  Our painting is painting F.  You do need to vote for 3 paintings for the vote to count.

Week 4

What an amazing day on Friday to celebrate the Mary MacKillop Day.  So much happening, I am sorry but I didn't manage to get photos to share with you. I am sure the children had fun.

We started our day celebrating mass as a whole school.  The singing was magnificent.  We then had craft rotations with different activities with teachers from other classes and finished with a math challenge where they had to complete the math problems with teams of four.
