'Ngā mihi o Matariki, te tau hou Māori'.

Our week of learning: Week 8

We have had a busy week in class, with lots of learning happening.  It is great to see the children so engaged in their Project Based Learning and making their presentations of their research of Matariki.  We look forward to sharing the projects with whanau when they are completed.

This week we took part in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Mass.  This was a school mass and our children took part with Room 2 in preparing and taking part during the service.

Grandma Gail came and spent some time in our class this week (which was great to have her).  She worked with a group of children to make cupcakes to share with the class.  (I am sorry, I forgot to get photos until the end).  I can tell you that they were consumed quickly and thoroughly enjoyed by our tamariki.

Last week, I entered our class into a competition to win a Solar System to decorate.  We were one of 12 classes around New Zealand to be chosen.  Unfortunately not all of us were able to decorate so a group of children took on the task for our class.  I have sent photos away of the decorated Solar System   This is through Qizzle and there are prizes for the winning class. When the voting starts I will share the link with you.

Sunday is the last day to order the school photos and take advantage of the free postage.

Week 5 Update

Update

Ko Hata Maria
te Matua Wahine o te Atua icon.

We went to vie the icon today at St Mary's Church.  She is absolutely beautiful and we all enjoyed seeing it in person.

Before we went, we all learned about the painting and what is the significance of different parts of the painting and what they symbolise.

We returned to the church to celebrate mass with the rest of the senior school and parishioners.  This is a very special time for us and has been missed.
