Classroom Focus

  • Kind words - using kind words when talking to someone
  • Kind actions - be kind to others and how you treat them
A way to check that you are using kind words and actions is if you are unsure, think and say to yourself - would I like it if someone said or did this to me.  If the answer is no, then possibly you should refrain from saying or doing this to another person as they possibly could feel the same way.

Lenten Promise Food Drive is still going until the end of Week 10.  Please keep the donations coming in!

We have looked at David Hockney's art based around swimming and the movement of the water.  Not only have we looked at David Hockney's work, but we have also had discussions while in the swimming pool, describing what we see, the movement of the water.  Back in class we have discussed about how we can transfer what we see when in the pool and in Hockney's swimming pool art and how we could show this on paper, what techniques we could use?

Watch this space for the finished art piece.

It is great to see the children coming back to school. Their friends are happy to see them and I am always pleased to have my learners in class.  The weather has not been the best but we have been able to still get outside for a mask break and some fresh air.

We have been swimming this week. The children commented that the pool was lovely and warm. Today they thought there was a bit more water in the pool than usual after the rain we had overnight.

Baking with Mr G

Some young bakers in the making!
They got to collect fruit from our school garden with Mr G and bake muffins for our class. They picked apples, blackberries and rhubarb.

I have to say, the muffins were delicious
and enjoyed by everyone.

School Leaders

Congratulations

We are still collecting for out Lenten Food Drive.
The children have set a goal of collecting 100 food items.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Sunday 20 March 2022

We are swimming this week!

Remember your togs.

We have had a few children away recently and it is great to see them returning back to school.  Hopefully more of you will be able to join us this week.  Masks are to be worn at all times when indoors. Please make sure your child has their mask.  Our class has been fantastic at wearing their masks correctly and using the hand sanitiser when we enter the classroom.  Tables are wiped down during each break.

Week 7 was another busy week with lots of happenings.  Year 6 children were so excited to receive their Leadership badges.  If you were away, don't worry, you will get your badge when you return to school.

We have finished our Rat Traps and they were placed around the school on Friday.  We will start collecting data this week and after a few days we will put in the traps that will catch the predators (I will let someone else clear the traps then).  We worked alongside Room 4 for this.

Thank you Mr Billing (JPC) for helping us.

We made 9 rat traps and each child had input into them.

Have a great week!

Mid Week 5 2022

Sorry, the mid week is a little late this week. It was my boys birthday and he wanted to have fish and chips on the beach so we decided to go to Papamoa last night.

We started Lent yesterday and celebrated Ash Wednesday with a classroom liturgy.  The children had written their promises and they were burnt and blessed by Father Thomas on Tuesday. We went to visit the church to see him bless them.  As our Promise of Giving - we decided as a class to do a Food Drive which we will donate the items to the church for those who need.  If you would like to send items along with your child to add to the food rive, it would be greatly appreciated.
