End of the year

Well, where has the time gone.  I would like to start by saying thank you to everyone.  For all the support, for entrusting me with your children and for everything else.

The children have been amazing. I am proud of each and every one of them. Of their achievements, the challenges they have overcome, the friendships they have made but most of all the person they have become.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my year as Room 3 teacher and as I am typing this letter there is a little tear in my eye and lump in my throat as I have to let them go. I am going to miss the smiles, the laughter, the little friendly banter we have and the way they are concerned about each others well being.

I wish everyone the best for next year.
  • Year 6's - go to John Paul College (and those going to other schools), with your head held high. Be proud of who you are and believe in yourself. You all have the ability to make your dreams come true.
  • Year 5's - be proud and believe in yourself. Make your last year at St Mary's be your best. I look forward hearing about what an amazing person you are from your new teachers. Don't forget to come in and say hello. Pop in for a chat, my door is always open.
Thank you and God bless

Delwyn Bowen.

Week 8 2022

As the end of the year is nearing, we have some busy days ahead.  Please check in as I will update the calendar as needed.

Swimming Sports and Tryathlon 2022 - THURSDAY 8TH DECEMBER

Rotorua Aquatic Centre, Tarewa Road, Rotorua

Information to Parents & Caregivers

Points to note:

We will be having a triathlon and biathlon at the swimming sports this year. The triathlon involves swim, bike and running. The run and biking will be in the park next door and will not entail riding on the road. If your child wants to participate in this they will need to bring their bike and helmet with them to the Aquatic Centre.  Bikes will be secure inside the Aquatic Centre.

The biathlon is a swim and run.

Children will choose one of these events, not both.

  • The programme is for our middle and senior school students - Years 4, 5 & 6.

  • The swimming sports will be held at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre on Tarewa Road in Rotorua.

  • Years 4 – 6 students need to be dropped off at the Aquatic Centre on the day by 8:45 am.

  • Swimming sports will finish at approximately 2:30pm. Children need to be collected from the Aquatic Centre by 3:00pm at the latest.

  • If your child attends After School Care or they usually catch the bus home they will be picked up by bus and returned to school from the Aquatic Centre at 2:30 pm.

  • Children may come to swimming sports in their house colours, they may wear their togs under their clothes. There will be points for the ‘Best Dressed House.’ Teachers will be dressing up too!

  • Children will need – togs & towel, sunhat, sunblock, warm clothes, morning tea, lunch & water.

  • NO MONEY as they will not be able to purchase anything while at the Aquatic Centre.

Room 3 Christmas Celebration

On Wednesday, we will be busy all day with Christmas activities. They are looking forward to having some fun. In the middle block, we will be doing baking and I was wondering if anyone would like to come in and help us. A couple extra hands and eyes would be fantastic.

Sunday 27 November 2022

What an amazing few days we had at camp. The kids were fantastic and gave everything a go.  I have so many photos which will be shared with the children.  I am sure they would have got plenty of rest over the weekend as I know they were pretty tired on the bus home.

A huge thank you to the parents that came on camp and helped out. It was greatly appreciated by Bevan and myself..  You were all amazing.

Also a big thank you for the baking and biscuits that parents sent along for our morning tea etc, there was so much amazing food which was enjoyed by everyone.

I would also like to thank Mr James and Mr Macmillan, they were awesome and helped make my first camp with St Mary's so enjoyable.

Food Bank

This is something I usually do with my class at this time of year, however at St Mary's the Young Vinnies are doing a food bank and I would really like our class to get behind this and support it.  There are many families that struggle during the holiday period for many reasons and if we can help them a little, it would  be appreciated.
