Week 1 Term 2

Week 1

Welcome back. I hope you all had a great break, enjoying the weather (most the time).  I have had a great break and am looking forward to seeing the smiles tomorrow and listening to the stories, (usually with all of them trying to tell me at once) about their holidays..

Remember to bring back your Reading Logs.  Let's aim for 100% return.  If you haven't got the form, write the titles of what you have read on a piece of paper and bring it to school.  Pizza for the class is up for grabs.

You would have received a letter from Mr Macmillan regarding the wearing of masks.  We have made the decision that masks MUST BE WORN in the class by all children and teachers.  Parents are expected to wear masks when they come into the school at all times.  I have spare masks in class if anyone requires one.

If your child needs to be away for any reason - please remember to let the office know. There will be no Learning From Home offered this term, however children are able to access the Student Home Page, Math Whizz and Read Theory from home but the focus will be on them getting better and returning to school

Have you booked a time to come in and have a chat,

There are a number of ways bookings can be made. Either:

2)  Go to www.school interviews.co.nz and enter the event code akwma

Mother's day is on Sunday 8th May.
Gifts can be purchased on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
It is great to see some some of the special things that took place when my boys attended St Mary's Rotorua are still  going strong.  They loved being able to do this.

Learning Focus.

We will start the term off with a learning focus of:
  • Maths - Multiplication and Division
  • Reading - Making Inferences
  • Writing - Poetry
  • Religious Education - the effects of the Holy Spirit were in the lives of the apostles and disciples after PENTECOST as the first members of the Church.
  • Fitness/PE - preparation for Cross Country
  • OLA - ANZAC (as it was celebrated during the holidays, we started last term and we will continue for this week.

Visiting the ANZAC Exhibition at Te Papa while visiting my
son would be one of my holiday highlights.

Remember Winter Uniform is to be worn this term. Polar fleeces can be worn to school but are not to be worn in class. Masks are also to be worn in class this term.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday.

Mrs Bowen
